Software Engineer - Mathematical Modelling
Sydney, Australia
Part Time Mathematical Modellers are required for the development and implementation of mathematical models for use in decision support for ocean yacht racing applications. You will be involved in the design and implementation of mathematical models used as part of the complete decision support system for a Yacht Racing Team as well as system study based on vessel specifications and discussion with professional yacht racing teams, meteoroligists, oceanographers and model fitting using modern software tools (based on MS Excel and Matlab) and software functional design and specification. Other duties will include software design and implementation using existing software standards, system Integration and test and the commissioning of delivered modelling software including model fitting and tuning to achieve best accuracy of predication. You should ideally have a passion for sport and some experience in ocean yacht racing. You should have a degree in Mathematics, Mathematics with Physics or Computer Science with Mathematics. As a Software Engineer at Race Recon you will need excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a small team, be self reliant and confident, be a great team player and be familiar with web-based project management tools. You must be willing to travel and work around the world for short periods of time. Experience with Matlab software packages and ability to speak languages especially Spanish and French is desirable but not essential.
Finally, you must be prepared to be part of the most exciting and inspirational high-risk high speed sports advisory team in the world. You will be developing applications that push the limits of sports performance and endurance, smash world records and inspire the yacht racing community at large to innovate.
